Pigmento Coolectivo
Somos especialistas em impressão giclée e fine art, apaixonados por papéis e sediados em Aveiro, Portugal.
We have a mission…
Pigmento’s mission is to produce fine art printing with technical excellence, consistency, and absolute respect for each artist’s creative work.
Each print is produced on high-quality, long-lasting papers and substrates, using exclusively mineral pigment inks and rigorous colour management processes, designed to ensure colour fidelity, stability, and repeatability over time.
Alongside production, we place great importance on close, attentive support for our clients. We provide technical guidance during the pre-print stage and ensure careful follow-up after production, because we believe printing is an integral part of the creative process — not merely its final step.
We love printing…
We work with over 1,200 artists, photographers, illustrators, and other creatives, supporting artistic, editorial, and exhibition projects. Part of this work can be seen on our Instagram, where we share a — necessarily brief — glimpse of the prints we produce.
We use exclusively reference-grade materials within the fine art printing field, working primarily with papers from Awagami, Hahnemühle, Ilford, and MediaJET. Pigmento’s production park consists of four Canon imagePROGRAF PRO printers equipped with LUCIA PRO mineral pigment inks.
We produce giclée prints up to 111.8 cm (44 inches) on the shortest side, maintaining the same standards of technical excellence and quality control across all formats.
We’re just fine art & giclée printers!
Pigmento Coolectivo is an independent giclée and fine art printing laboratory, founded in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Born as a small-scale operation, it has maintained from the outset a clear focus on technical rigour, material quality, and respect for artistic work.
Based in Aveiro, we currently ship orders regularly to more than 20 European countries. Between 2021 and 2022, during a period still marked by significant logistical constraints, we strengthened internal processes, expanded the reach of our activity, and deepened our relationships with the artists we work with through a phase of controlled technical experimentation and sustained growth.
The year 2023 marked a turning point: prints produced by Pigmento reached 232 cities across 22 countries, paving the way for new international partners, broader engagement with artists, and the consolidation of new markets.
In 2024, production reached approximately 16,200 prints, maintaining steady growth in line with the technical and quality standards that define the studio. Currently, we collaborate with more than 1,000 national and international artists (as of February 2025), guided by a clear objective: to grow responsibly and to serve all our partners with an exemplary level of technical and human commitment.
Pigmento Coolectivo is a certified studio for giclée and fine art digital printing.

We love our roles. And our rolls. Pun obviously intended.
At Pigmento Coolectivo, paper is treated as a critical raw material rather than a mere support. It is where artistic intent, printing technology, and the longevity of the work converge.
We offer a broad and carefully tested selection of papers from reference brands, complemented by our own line based on “white label” papers produced by renowned manufacturers. To date, we have tested 106 distinct papers available on the market (as of 1 March 2025), and we expect to publish a public database shortly with some of the results we have been compiling.
We maintain a permanent stock of more than a dozen papers, selected to cover a broad range of technical and aesthetic requirements. We work with different types of natural fibres — such as alpha-cellulose and cotton — a wide variety of finishes (smooth, textured, silky, satin, pearlescent, among others), and different levels of whiteness, opacity, and transparency. We also incorporate substrates of more sustainable origin, such as bamboo, agave, and hemp.
Variety does not imply a loss of criteria. Pigmento’s paper selection always seeks a balance between technical characteristics, artistic intent, and cost. We prefer to be clear: some papers are technically exceptional and, for that very reason, expensive. In a demanding economic context, transparency in these choices is part of the role we assume within the sector.
We work by appointment only.
Pigmento operates as a studio closed to the public. This choice originated from very specific circumstances at the time of the studio’s founding, in the midst of the pandemic, and was later adopted as a conscious operational decision.
Working behind closed doors allows us to focus on what we consider essential: personalised relationships, rigorous attention to detail, and genuine availability to support each client in achieving the best possible results.
We accept studio visits only by prior appointment, arranged with reasonable advance notice, and solely in very specific situations, such as the conclusion of exhibitions, the supervision of large series, or other projects that, by their nature, justify it.
To place an order, we recommend consulting the How to Order page, where the entire process is explained clearly. The Frequently Asked Questions page brings together answers to the most common questions.
