WHAT IS A GICL\u00c9E PRINT, AFTER ALL?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The word Gicl\u00e9e (pronounced \u201czhee-clay\u201d) comes from the French gicler (\u201cto spray\u201d) and was coined in the early 1990s by the late Jack Duganne (1942\u20132020), a pioneering Master Printer in this printing technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term refers to inkjet prints that use mineral pigments and high-quality substrates, ensuring exceptional permanence. While every gicl\u00e9e print is inkjet, very few inkjet prints meet true gicl\u00e9e standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laboratory studies indicate over 200 years of resistance to fading under ideal conditions (dark storage, 22.7 \u00b0C, 50% RH) and approximately 86 years when displayed under glass. With ongoing advances in ink technology, these timeframes are expected to become even more impressive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
